The first round of NCMC’s Feature Veal Carcass comp for 2020 got underway today (22/04/20). It was very encouraging to see the quality of Vealers presented for the competition given the seasonal conditions they were produced under. Vealers came from near and far, travelling from as far as Walcha and Copmanhurst to enter the comp.
This competition provides producers the opportunity to collect commercial carcass data which helps to provide feedback on breeding and production system decisions and supports the direction of future decisions in the herd. It also allows you, the producer, access to each others data on completion of the competition to benchmark your carcass data to calculate where you sit in the group and why.
