John Seccombe

John Seccombe

John became a Director of the Co-operative in 2010 and Chairman in 2013. John is currently Chairman of the Board’s Nomination Committees and has served on the Board’s remuneration committee. John has a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture degree from the University of New England, Armidale. He is a Member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and has completed the AICD Company Directors Course.

John has a strong family background in the Northern Rivers cattle industry and is currently operating a beef breeder enterprise targeting the veal market with progeny primarily being direct consigned to NCMC. John’s background provides him with a wide understanding and appreciation of the red meat and livestock industry. John has gained experience in livestock exports, feedlots, extensive cattle property management, and in the processing industry having managed research institutions, a large cattle station in the Moree district and a custom feedlot at Gurley as well as having a period with the Australian Meat and Livestock Corporation.

John has taken an active role in industry issues and advocated the cattle industry wherever possible. He is currently a member of the Marketing, Market Access and Trade Committee for the Cattle Council of Australia and is a member of the Cattle Committee for the NSW Farmers Association.  John is an appointee to the Cattle Tick Ministerial Advisory Committee.  John also is Chairman of Melanoma Patients Australia.

Neil Summerville

Neil Summerville

Neil was elected to the Board in November 2011 and to the position of Deputy Chairman in August 2016. He has been a member of the Board’s Nomination Committee and has served on the Board’s Audit & Risk  and the Remuneration Committee. Neil has completed the AICD Foundation of Directorship Course.

Neil has been involved in the beef cattle industry his entire life.  Neil started out managing properties in Queensland. For the past 26 years Neil has owned and managed a family beef property at Sextonville, NSW.  The property produces weaner cattle and grain assisted veal for local trade. Over the years Neil has been involved in the management of several properties in the Sextonville area; all of which are specialist beef enterprises.

Neil has been a Director and Chairman of the former Rural Lands Protection Board as well as Livestock Health and Pest Authority.  He is an elected Director on the newly formed Local Land Services Board and an appointee to the Ministerial Cattle Tick Advisory Group, and Chairman of the local Rural Fire Service.

Merrick was elected to the Board in October 2018. Merrick is a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and has completed an AICD Foundation of Directorship Course.

Merrick was born and raised in the Northern Rivers and runs a small beef property with his family. In 1995 Merrick completed a Bachelor of Management (Agribusiness) from the University of Sydney (Orange), specialising in international trade and marketing.

Merrick has worked in the red meat industry for over 20 years and has spent most of this time in sales and marketing (domestically and internationally) establishing relationships with customers in South East Asia, North Asia, North America, the Middle East and Europe. He commenced working with a number of operators of NCMC (Casino), followed by J & E Medcalf (North Yorkshire, UK), before returning to work with vertically integrated exporter Stockyard Beef (Brisbane), where he focused on the development of beef marketing programs to maximise carcass return. From 2007 – 2013 Merrick was employed at NCMC (Casino) as Sales & Marketing Manager. This role expanded his understanding of the all sectors of the industry, and the complexities facing producers and processors at NCMC. Since 2013 Merrick has continued his career in the red meat industry at Lee Pratt Beef  in sales and marketing of beef and beef co-products.

Neil Short

Neil Short

Neil was elected to the Board in November 2013 and has been a member of the Board’s Audit & Risk Committee and the Remuneration Committee. Neil is a Member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and has completed an AICD Foundation of Directorship Course.

Neil was educated at Kyogle before successfully completing an accountancy and law competency course at Hawkesbury Agricultural College, for his real estate and stock and station licenses. Neil is a licensed Stock & Station / Real Estate Agent with an auctioneer’s accreditation and as a director / partner has been employed at Ian Weir & Son Pty Ltd (Lismore) since 1986. In 1999 he became licensee in charge of Ian Weir & Son Pty Ltd. Neil is a Director of the Lismore Saleyards Pty Ltd.

He has a long experience in dealing with Solicitors, Banks, Accountants, Town Planners, Surveyors and Council staff in the wider Northern Rivers area, having sold properties in the region. Neil owns properties in the northern rivers area and loves spending time with family.

Ron Chittick

Ron Chittick

Ron Chittick was elected to the Board in November 2008. Ron has been Chairman of the Board’s Audit & Risk Committee and a member of the Nomination committee and the WHSEMS Committee. Ron is a Member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and has completed the AICD Foundation of Directorship Course.  Ron was born and raised in the Corndale area; and is a 4th generation beef producer.  Ron along with his wife Lyn, runs a herd of 120 breeders on properties at Rosebank and Corndale producing veal for the local market.

Ron is a licensed Stock and Station Agent servicing the Lismore area for 50 years. He became a part owner and Licensee of Bishop & Co, Lismore in 1986. Ron has recently semi-retired to concentrate on beef production. Over a period of 20 years Ron has served as a Director and Chairman of Tweed-Lismore Rural Lands Protection Board and Director of North Coast Livestock Health and Pest Authority. Ron holds position on many local voluntary organisations including Rotary Club of Lismore West, Vice President of North Coast National A & I Society (Lismore) and Bangalow A & I Society.

Rob Sinnamon

Robert became a Director of the Co-operative in 2015 and has been a member of the Board’s Audit & Risk Committee and Remuneration Committee. Robert is a Member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and has completed the AICD Foundation of Directorship Course an

Robert managed Sinnamon family properties at Harlin, Toogoolawah and Taroom in Queensland, running “Robenlea” Santa Gertrudis Stud for some 20 years, exhibiting, showing and selling Santa Gertrudis cattle.  Robert is the General Manager of Yulgilbar Pastoral Company Pty Ltd a position held for the past 17 1/2 years running on average 5500 head of stud and commercial cattle, principally Santa Gertrudis.

Educated at Brisbane Boys College, he has a Diploma in Agriculture and in Rural Business Management. Rob has travelled extensively to research Beef Cattle in the US, South America and South Africa which has enabled him to further understand the Beef Industry Globally. Along with completing a “Grazing for Profit” school, and numerous Beef orientated short courses, Rob has also been a participant on the Beef CRC Review Panel and more recently on the RDE&S Consultative Committee of Cattle Council

Angela Seccombe

Angela was elected to the Board in December 2016 and has been a member of the Board’s Audit & Risk Committee and Remuneration Committee. Angela is a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and has completed an AICD Foundation of Directorship Course.

Angela was raised on a property on the Central Coast of NSW and completed a Diploma in Applied Science (Agriculture) at Hawkesbury Agricultural College in 1979. A Diploma in Education (Secondary) was completed in 1987 at the Sydney College of Education.  Angela joined the NSW Department of Agriculture in 1981 as an Agronomist, training at Orange and Leeton before taking up a position as District Agronomist at Parkes in 1982.

Angela and her husband Robert purchased a property at Piora in 1991 where they have produced vealers and butcher’s cattle. In 2005 leasing a second property at Mummulgum allowed an increase in breeder numbers, again focusing on veal production.  Angela is currently a member of the Northern Rivers Livestock Exchange (NRLX) Advisory Group.

Steve Morrow

Steve Morrow

Steve was elected to the Board in October 2018 as the Co-operative’s first Independent Director. Steve is a member of the Board’s Audit & Risk Committee and has previously completed an AICD Directors Course.

Steve was born and raised in Armidale NSW where he qualified with a Bachelor of Agricultural Economics, UNE. He started his career in the grain industry with Queensland Grain Growers Association, Toowoomba (Co-operative), before moving to Kansas City, USA as Director Asian Marketing for Farmland Industries (Co-operative). In 1986, Steve returned to Australia and opened the first Australian office for US multinational ConAgra Grains. In 1991, ConAgra acquired Elders Agribusiness and Steve moved to Melbourne as Managing Director, ConAgra Wool Ltd. In 1995 Steve moved to Brisbane as Managing Director of the listed Pastoral Company Primac Holdings, which was later taken over by Elders in 1998.  In 1998 Steve took on a new role as General Manger Agribusiness, Suncorp Bank, Brisbane.  In 2004 Steve was appointed Chief Executive of then Co-operative, Golden Circle LTD.  Since 2007, Steve has been a professional company Director, having served on fifteen Boards including eleven as Chairman.

He currently serves as Chairman of Golden Cockerel, Priestley’s Gourmet Holdings and a board member of CEFN Pty Ltd and represents US pension fund MERS who have agri-investments in Australia.
